The vedic square is a multiplication table from ancient India that is fascinating because of all the mathematical concepts (counting, addition, multiplication, number comparison) involved in creating the square and the concepts (patterns, geometry) illustrated in the square itself. It is at the basis of many islamic artworks/patterns.
