ICOSA VILLAGE PODS - A TOP QUALITY YET COST-EFFECTIVE REFUGEE SHELTER SOLUTION

Refugee camps can comprise anywhere from a few thousand to a few hundred thousand people, and are usually located on the edges of towns or cities.

UNHCR Refugee Shelter Guidelines specify that required shelter space per person is 3.5 m2 (37.65 sq. ft2) and that the minimum distance between two shelters must be 2 meter (6.56 ft.).

Types of refugee shelter vary substantially. If one assumes that there is one shelter for every 6.6 people 7, then one arrives at a requirement for 10.7 million shelter units to adequately house the 53 million refugees in need of cover. According to these UNHCR guidelines, the 108 square-foot Icosa Village IcoPods? will shelter 3 adults (or 2 adults and two children), while our 472 square-foot DecaPod? will shelter 12 adults.
